Computer safety is one of the most important aspects of your computer’s well being. Allowing your system to be well protected and avoiding bad web decisions is a key factor in the way your computer will function and run properly. It is best to follow these simple guidelines in order to keep your data safe, computer running, and your system functioning properly.

  1. Back-Up your computer! This is an essential step that many small businesses chose to go without. Backing up your data is an easy way to retain your information daily without a hassle. It can be done simply on its own with a certified administrator setting it up. Creating a back-up schedule that runs frequently can mean the world of a difference whenever an accident occurs such as a big storm (or you spill coffee on the monitor).
  2. Give your computer a break. Allow your computer to have some down time! You, yourself, needs a little R&R- just like your computer does! Allow your computer to shut down and reboot every once in awhile. This allows your computer to update its programming and catch up on some much needed battery power.
  3. Create a STRONG password. A strong password is something other than your high school basketball number, JustinBieber&Me4ever, or your pets/children’s names. A strong character can be created with a variety of characters that can be difficult for anyone to guess. It is also recommended that you keep your password written down somewhere other than on your computer. If your computer is to crash (which will happen at some point) you will need access to the data stored. If your password is not recovered by your memory, your data could be lost for good. Keeping your passwords written down outside of your computer is also a good way to keep hackers or spyware from recovering your data too.

Use these few tips to get started on a longer computer life span. With these few tricks you may be able to help your computer run better for a longer amount of time.
